Chapter 28: The Queen Who Chose Freedom
Years passed.
The world changed.
There were no Alpha Kings.
No forced bonds.
No councils built on fear.
The packs governed themselves.
The Black Moon became a symbol of peace.
People sometimes called me Queen.
I always corrected them.
“Luna.”
Because I didn’t rule over wolves.
I stood beside them.
Kael became the first Alpha Guardian.
Not a king.
A protector.
We built a home near the old forest.
Far from palaces.
Far from politics.
One evening, I stood outside watching the sunset.
Kael approached from behind.
“You’ve been quiet.”
“I’m remembering.”
“The past?”
“Yes.”
“Do you regret anything?”
I smiled.
“I used to think I wanted revenge.”
“And now?”
“Now I understand.”
He wrapped his arms around me.
“Understand what?”
I turned toward him.
“That revenge would have given me one night of satisfaction.”
I touched his face.
“But choosing my own life gave me everything.”
He kissed me.
Our wolves rested peacefully inside us.
No prophecy.
No war.
No darkness.
Just us.
