Chapter 9: The Truth About Lily
Adrian reached Elena’s room seconds too late.
The door was open.
The room was empty.
His heart stopped.
“ELENA!”
No answer.
He searched every room.
Nothing.
Then he saw something on the floor.
A small silver necklace.
The same necklace found in the woods.
Adrian picked it up.
His expression became murderous.
“Lock down the territory.”
Guards rushed into action.
“Find Elena and Lily.”
A voice suddenly came from behind him.
“You’re too late.”
Adrian turned.
His mother stood in the doorway.
For a moment, neither spoke.
Then Adrian asked,
“Where are they?”
She smiled.
“I don’t know.”
“You’ve always been a terrible liar.”
Her smile disappeared.
“What do you want?”
“The same thing your father wanted.”
Adrian stepped closer.
“Tell me.”
“The throne.”
He laughed bitterly.
“You destroyed your own family for a throne?”
“No.”
She looked at him coldly.
“We destroyed your family because your bloodline was never supposed to rule.”
Adrian’s eyes narrowed.
“What are you talking about?”
She reached into her pocket.
And pulled out an ancient document.
“The Blackwood family stole the Alpha throne.”
Adrian stared at the document.
“This is impossible.”
“It is the truth.”
She placed the document in his hand.
“The true Alpha bloodline belongs to Elena’s family.”
Adrian froze.
Elena.
The woman he had spent five years hating.
The woman he had once loved.
The mother of his daughter.
The woman whose family he believed was beneath him…
was the rightful heir to the throne.
His mother whispered,
“That’s why they wanted Elena gone.”
Adrian looked at her.
“And Lily?”
His mother’s expression became cold.
“Lily carries both bloodlines.”
She smiled.
“Which means she can unite the two houses.”
Adrian’s face hardened.
“Or destroy them.”
“Exactly.”
A gunshot suddenly echoed through the manor.
His mother fell to the floor.
Adrian turned toward the window.
Someone was standing on the roof opposite the manor.
A figure wearing a black mask.
The figure raised one hand.
And pointed directly at Adrian.
Then disappeared.
Adrian looked down at the ancient document.
For the first time in his life…
he understood the real war.
It wasn’t about revenge.
It was about the throne.
And Elena and Lily were at the center of it.
