Chapter 3: Spark of Conflict
The creative studio on the 14th floor was buzzing with energy, but tension hung thick in the air. Clara stood by the large digital whiteboard,
reviewing the color palettes for the European Luxury Campaign. She had spent hours refining the minimalist aesthetic, blending classic European
elegance with modern street art.
The heavy glass door opened, and Ethan walked in. He wore a crisp white shirt with the sleeves rolled up to his forearms, looking less like a
distant CEO and more like a hands-on perfectionist. His eyes immediately scanned the board.
“The dark gold and emerald theme is too subtle, Clara,” Ethan stated, walking closer. “Our clients in Paris and Milan want bold statements, not
quiet art.”
Clara took a slow breath, holding a stylus in her hand. “Luxury isn’t always about shouting, Mr. Vance. It’s about quiet confidence. If we
overload the visuals with bright gold, we lose the sophisticated charm.”
“And if we keep it too soft, it gets lost in the crowd,” Ethan countered, stepping right next to her. He reached out to adjust the screen
settings, his shoulder lightly brushing against hers.
For a fraction of a second, Clara’s breath caught. A sudden, unexpected warmth flared between them. Ethan paused too, his gaze shifting from the
screen down to Clara’s eyes. The room suddenly felt much smaller.
Clara quickly cleared her throat, breaking the moment. “Let me present two variations to the focus group tomorrow. If my quiet design scores
lower, we go with your bold version.”
Ethan stared at her for a long moment, a subtle smile tugging at the corner of his lips. “Fair enough, Miss Montgomery. May the best design win.”
