Chapter 7: The Breakthrough Gala
The grand hall of the Natural History Museum in London was transformed into an ethereal wonderland of soft golden lights, crystal chandeliers, and
lush floral arrangements. It was the official launch gala for the European Luxury Campaign—a night where London’s high society, fashion moguls,
and top investors gathered under one roof.
Clara stood near the entrance, taking a moment to calm her nerves. She wore an elegant, floor-length emerald green satin gown with a subtle side
slit, her golden-brown hair styled in loose waves over one shoulder. She looked breathtaking, though she still felt a bit out of place amid the
ultra-wealthy elite.
“You look stunning, Clara.”
Clara turned around to see Ethan standing behind her. He wore a sharp black tuxedo with a dark bowtie, looking dangerously handsome. His deep blue
eyes swept over her with an intensity that made Clara’s breath catch in her throat.
“Thank you, Ethan,” Clara said softly, offering a smile. “You don’t look too bad yourself.”
Ethan chuckled softly—a rare, genuine sound—and offered her his arm. “Shall we? Tonight is a celebration of your vision.”
As they walked through the hall together, heads turned. The chemistry between the powerful CEO and the brilliant designer was impossible to
ignore. Throughout the evening, Ethan stayed by Clara’s side, introducing her to influential art directors and European investors, making sure she
received all the credit for the campaign’s success.
Around midnight, as the crowd began to thin, Ethan led Clara toward the quiet outdoor balcony overlooking the illuminated museum gardens. The cool
night breeze rustled through the trees, a stark contrast to the warm, noisy ball hall behind them.
Clara leaned against the stone balustrade, closing her eyes and taking in the fresh air. “Tonight feels like a dream. Two months ago, I was
struggling to get my agency noticed. Now, the biggest brands in Europe are talking about my work.”
Ethan stood beside her, leaning his elbow on the railing as he watched her face lit up by the moonlight. “It wasn’t luck, Clara. It was your
talent and your stubborn refusal to back down.”
Clara looked at him, laughing softly. “Stubborn? I recall you being the stubborn one in the boardroom, Mr. Vance.”
“Perhaps,” Ethan murmured, his voice dropping to a low, velvety pitch. He took a step closer, reducing the space between them. “But with you, I
find myself wanting to yield.”
The atmosphere between them shifted instantly. The distant sound of violin music faded into the background. Ethan reached out, his long fingers
gently tucking a stray strand of hair behind her ear. His warm fingers brushed against her cheek, sending a sudden tremor straight to her heart.
Clara looked up into his dark eyes, searching for the icy CEO she first met, but finding only warmth, admiration, and something far deeper.
“Ethan…” she whispered.
Before Ethan could say another word, the heavy balcony glass doors creaked open.
“Ethan darling! I’ve been looking everywhere for you!” a sharp, sophisticated female voice echoed across the balcony.
Clara instantly pulled back, her heart sinking. A tall, gorgeous woman with platinum blonde hair and a diamond necklace walked out onto the
balcony, wearing an expensive designer red dress.
Ethan’s jaw tightened, his gentle demeanor instantly vanishing behind a cold, rigid mask. “Julianna. What are you doing here?”
